History
Created in the 1930s, the Sachsenring was an internationally recognized motorcycle track. Racing resumed as early as 1949 after the Second World War. International World Championship races were held from 1961 to 1972. Until 1990, the track ran right through the town of Hohenstein-Ernstthal. In 1996, the newly built Sachsenring was opened as a permanent race track.
